The Screen Actors Guild Awards were held last sunday. And that means we've got a lot of looking and staring to do; at all the pretty dresses, elegant hairdo's and perfect make-up.

Tips | Self tanning
We genuinely thought we could skip winter and go straight into spring, but boy, were we fooled! The next few days the temperatures will stay low, but fortunately with not too much snow, so at least we can move..
Despite the sun, it won't feel to comfortable outside. So we're a long way from lounging in the sun.
But there is a solution for everything!
Using a self tanning lotion isn't just better for your skin, but when treating your skin right and using the right products, it is also very efficient.

We selected a few crucial tips and products for an even and pretty tan.

Clean skin
When treating your face or your entire body,
it is important that your skin is cleansed well.
Scrub your skin to remove dead skin cells.
Not only will your skin absorb the lotion better,
the colour will also benefit from it.

Body
When choosing to tan your whole body, a spray
will be easier to handle then a lotion. A spray
makes the gel easier to divide and it is easier to
reach 'unreachable' spots.

Face

Céleste Originals | Developments
A year ago, Céleste Originals signed in officially at the Chamber of Commerce!
When looking back, we have already accomplished a few important things:

• The website
• The webshop
• Products: 'Smooth Skin', 'Sweet Feet' and 'Heaven's Touch'
• World of Céleste
• Participation Beyond Beauty Paris

And we're not about to slow down in 2012; there are a lot of new developments going on.
Important of course, is our product development. By the end of March, we will launch our hand & nail care line.
We can't tell you too much about it now, but we can say there are 4 products coming up.

A new part of our website will launch at the end of February: a section especially for our B2B-customers. Beauticians, spas, salons, retailers and even web shops can use this section to order the Céleste Originals products. It's our own little wholesale!

And this month we had a new photo shoot with new women to represent our products and brand. You'll be able to 'meet' them soon and discover which Céleste products they use.

Colour | White
Here in Holland, it is going to be cold this week, freezing cold. Whoever thought we could skip winter, think again.. They're even talking snow and ice! Even though we're not completely looking forward to a wintery scene, crisp white snow always feels magical. And that's why it's this week's fashion colour.

White is 'made' out of all the colours of the colour spectrum. It is not even really a colour, and more often it's a shade of grey.
White is the colour of purity and innocence.
White also stands for surrender; showing a white flag in times of war meant surrendering to the opposition.

Style | Kristin Cavallari
Last week the news came out that Kristin Cavallari was expecting her first child with fiance Jay Cutler. It made us think about a few years ago, when we en masse started watching the MTV series Laguna Beach and The Hills, in which she starred.
Nothing said relaxation more than watching the lives unfold of a few girls living in L.A..
And even during the first run of Laguna Beach it was clear that when you're living in L.A., you dress up when you have a date or if you're going to a school gala.

Now, a few years later, the girls have grown up and with them, their personal styles have evolved too. Kristin prefers simple yet elegant pieces. She often combines a skinny jeans with a beautiful blouse, or a short dress with a pair of very high heels. Her go-to accessory is pretty shawl.

Investigation | Beauty products
Women develop a strong 'bond' with their cosmetic products. This has come out of a investigation by the Beauty Company (a strategic market research institute).

67% of the American women take time to choose the right beauty products and do not usually buy products thoughtlessly. Three quarters of the questioned women said they spend money on beauty products that make them happy.

It also turns out that the market is quite conservative. Most women prefer to buy brands they know, to trying relatively unknown and sometimes exotic products. 72% would rather invest in a brand that has been out there for a while, instead of a new one.

The research also shows that the use of moisturizers has increased tremendously, together with eye cream, SPF products, eye-liner and foundation, compared with the year before.

The French artist Jocelyne Grivaud has made 'Barbie versions' of several famous paintings, statues and photographs. Why? As a tribute to her muse and the fond childhood memories she has, playing with her Barbie dolls. And of course to honour the master pieces that have touched her, each in their own way.

Movie | My week with Marilyn
One of our favourite movies this season is 'My week with Marilyn'. The story is about the newly graduated Colin Clark, who works as a production-assistant on the set of 'The Prince and the Showgirl' starring Sir Lawrence Olivier and Marilyn Monroe, in the summer of 1956. When Marilyn's husband has to leave for a business trip, Colin gets the task to accompany her.

The movie is based on a single chapter of Colin Clark's memoirs. Michelle Williams won a Golden Globe for her role as Marilyn Monroe (Best actress in a Comedy/Musical).

Dior | Perfumed nail polish
Part of the new spring make-up collection by Dior is a very special nail polish. Available in two colours, the nail polish is perfumed, making the smell of the aceton disappear. The available colours are green and purple, and should both smell like rosewater.

Dior isn't the only brand where they've come up with this idea. Anna Sui, Forever 21 and Revlon also have a collection of perfumed nail polish coming out this spring, with fragrances such as coconut, strawberry and peach.

Colour | Light Pink
Pastels always do well in spring and summer. But during the colder days, light pink is still a fashionable colour. Unfortunately, when sporting this colour full-on, some of us look quite pale. So if you love this colour anyway, choose a few light pink accessories as an alternative.

The colour pink is derived from the French word 'rose', which means rose (like the flower).
Pink is the most commonly used colour when a baby girl is born. This colour appeals to a lot of young (and older) girls. What most people don't know, is that until the fourties, pink was a 'boy colour'. Blue was considered a much more delicate colour, and therefore feminine.
